Hand in Hand provides a range of practical and emotional support services to families in Ireland whose lives have been affected by childhood cancer. We provide a tailored level of care to each family so that whatever you may need, Hand in Hand is here to help. 

Organisations

Irish Cancer Society

The Irish Cancer Society is there to support every child and family diagnosed with cancer in Ireland. We are always there to provide free advice, practical support, grants and services to children, adolescents and young adults in many ways, including:

  • In hospital support with our children’s cancer coordinator
  • The Irish Cancer Society’s freephone Support Line 1800 200 700
  • Parent Peer support service
  • Publications and website information
  • Psychological support services for families in the form of Creative Arts Therapies for children and siblings and Counselling
  • Financial grants, including our €3,000 Children’s fund for every child diagnosed with cancer.
  • Fertility services
  • Night nursing

We also fund research, advocacy, and key staffing posts, including Play Therapy in Hand in Hand and other cancer services, to make sure we are making efforts to improve the quality of life of every child diagnosed with cancer.

Childhood Cancer Ireland

Childhood Cancer Ireland is a charity founded by and led by parents of children with cancer. Our mission is to achieve health justice for all children diagnosed with cancer in Ireland.

Rainbow Trust

The Rainbow Trust supports families with children up to the age of 18 who have a life threatening disease or terminal illness. Rainbow Trust’s support includes listening to a family’s fears and anxieties, helping to explain illnesses, diagnoses and treatments, keeping a seriously ill child company during hospital stays, driving families to medical appointments to help save time and money, organising fun activities to help sick children, their brothers and sisters, support through bereavement and grief. Rainbow Trust

Make a Wish Ireland

Make a Wish Ireland’s goal is to grant wishes to children with life threatening diseases to create long lasting memories for them and their loved ones. Make a Wish Ireland is a part of the international Make a Wish family that started in America in the 1980’s. The Make a Wish values are child Focus, integrity, impact, innovation, and community.
